Oscar winner Emma Stone has a new series on Netflix. This is 'Maniac', an anticipated project that has been announced for a long time (specifically since 2016) but that finally has a teaser and release date: it will arrive on September 21.
The firm Cary Fukunaga, the director who was behind of the first season of True Detective (for which he won an Emmy) and who has also recently worked on 'The Alienist'. And although in this first advance do not tell us anything about the plot, it helps us to see Stone and his co-star, Jonah Hill, and to understand that this is a peculiar series.

Annie and Owen, their characters, are two strangers who are in the final stages of a pharmaceutical trial. She is depressed and obsessed by the complicated relationships she has with her mother and sister, while he is the son of a New York millionaire who doubts he has schizophrenia. Both are hopeful that these tests offer a better future, although the side effects of the drugs can be really problematic.
Justin Theroux ('The Leftovers'), Sally Field ('Forrest Gump'), Jemima Kirke ( 'Girls') and Sonoya Mizuno (' Ex Machina ') complete the cast of this series that adapts a Norwegian fiction (created by Hakon Bast Mossige and Espen PA Lervaag) with a script by Patrick Somerville in its new version.
' Maniac 'will be a one-season mini-series consisting of ten half-hour episodes.
