Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have separated, and all signs point to divorce- it seems cracks in their relationship were not formed overnight. The couple issued a statement saying they made a mutual decision at the end of 2017. The statement reads; “We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.” – and these aren’t words of a couple that hopes to stay married. The couple got engaged in 2012, almost 7 years after Jennifer split from Brad Pitt- after the engagement, they got married in 2015. The announcement also said; “Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist and opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”
A source tells that the split was actually a long time coming, and that one of the biggest factors that played into their break-up was a fundamental disagreement about where the couple should live- Theroux thoroughly considers himself to be a NYer, and living in Hollywood was something that he never wanted. “Justin has a very diverse friend group, and he likes that they’re not all in the industry. He’s friends with people in all spheres- it’s an eclectic group and he doesn’t have that type of network in LA.” On the other hand, Aniston feels the same about LA- additionally, the two starts’ experiences with life in NY were different. Justin could hop on his motorcycle, walk around and hang out without being bothered, but for Jen, paparazzi are all over the place- she could never got settled in, she wasn’t happy. Despite their difference when it came to where they should live, they really did love each other, and that isn’t for sure the only incident to tore them apart. On Saturday, Aniston made an appearance at Ellen DeGeneres’ birthday party without Theroux, and the next day she celebrated her 49th birthday without him, and on Wednesday- Valentine’s Day- Justin was seen packing a bunch of luggage and other items in an SUV outside the NYC apartment he and Jen shared.
